With an experimental ethos at its core, design /delight is an emerging platform for contemporary collectible design and functional art.
Exhibition View, design /delight 2025
Launched in 2024 within West Bund Art & Design, one of China’s leading art fairs, design /delight has quickly shaped its own identity by presenting works at the intersection of design, function, and art. Embedded within the wider West Bund ecosystem—Shanghai’s foremost cultural district and a central anchor of Shanghai Art Week—the fair builds on the momentum of its debut while celebrating the transformative potential of design.
The Main Section features a diverse selection of galleries, studios, brands, designers, and artists, with many international exhibitors presenting their works in Asia or China for the first time. It serves as a catalyst for creative exchange and a cornerstone for forward-thinking voices in collectible design and functional art.
Beyond objects, exhibitors bring forward their remarkable expertise in scenography, set design, and art direction. The open, fluid spaces are crafted to cultivate interactions and inspire attendees by revealing how design navigates the balance between artistry and functionality.
The debut section welcomes design galleries, creative studios, and collectives established within the past five years, showcasing their latest collections or exclusive projects created for design /delight. It celebrates the creativity and experimental spirit driving contemporary design.
As a premiere platform, debut encourages bold innovation and original thinking, giving fresh design voices a stage to meet international audiences. At the same time, it offers collectors, curators, and industry professionals a front-row opportunity to discover new talents and anticipate the future directions of design.
form:a, short for form: Asia, is a curatorial initiative launched by design /delight. It spotlights Asian designers in dialogue with global practices, highlighting the diversity and creative vitality of contemporary Asian design.
Both the participant lineup and thematic focus of form:a are developed collaboratively by the curator and design /delight. By bringing together established and emerging talents across Asia in a collective context, the curated initiative sustained research on contemporary Asian design and encouraging cross-cultural dialogue.
