Mario Tsai
Hangzhou-based designer Mario Tsai is a leading figure in contemporary Chinese design.
Born in Hubei and now based in Hangzhou, his studio has developed a distinctive language that merges material innovation, modern technology and traditional craftsmanship. His work has received international recognition, including being named Dezeen Awards China Designer of the Year (2023), shortlisted for the Wallpaper Design Awards (2022), and selected by Oki Sato as a Creative Leader of the Future (2021). In 2019, Tsai launched his eponymous furniture
and lighting brand, now distributed worldwide, and in 2024 he debuted Sparks with Gallery Collectional.
